Sound-proofing the Ventus

  • Dear Hausorgel,

    I've a problem:

my Ventus-motor is too noisy. I've build a wood box with 4 cm of thickness (wood, polistirene, cloth) but I'm not satisfied.

    What do you suggest me?

    Thank you very much

  • Dear Giampiero!

Are you using the motor with 230V/50Hz? I got it silent after installing a frequency converter with input source 230V/50Hz and output 400V/20-60Hz manually adjustable. Another good effect results of the size of the ventus. I've selected a bigger one than necessary and drive it with about 40Hz. Third I use rubber feet pads between aluminium frame of motor and housing. The 2 cm-wall housing has minor effect. You need anyway an open housing to let air come in. And last but not least you should exhaust a little bit air somewhere out of your chest, channel or another useful silent place. Then the air source won't work against everything closed while you stop playing.

Hope you can adjust your efforts with these hints. Please provide a feedback about your results.
